Vern Arendt, 91

The Ozaukee Press reports that Vern Arendt, a photojournalist at the Port Washington, Wis., newspaper for 60 years, died Tuesday from complications related to Parkinson’s disease. He was 91.

Arendt was a WNPA Fellowship Award recipient in 1989, and a Dumke Award recipient in 1992. The newspaper’s thorough obituary notes that one of Arendt’s two sons, Sam, succeeded him as chief photographer. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at St. Peter of Alcantara Church in Port Washington, with visitation from 4-6 p.m.
