Milwaukee TV photojournalist arrested by police

Add yet another incident to the growing list of police-media altercations. This one, unfortunately, is closer to home.

Fox 6 reports (with video) that their photographer Clint Fillinger was arrested by Milwaukee Police at a house fire last Sunday night. The station reports that Fillinger was standing with public bystanders – behind the police line – shooting video of the scene. The video shows he was singled-out by law enforcement and told to move back further out of concerns of “privacy” and “safety.” According to Fillinger, he made accidental contact with the sergeant while backing away and while verbally asserting his right to record. At that point he was then brought to the ground by the officers and arrested.

NPPA’s general counsel, Mickey H. Osterreicher, has sent a letter to the MPD’s Chief Edward A. Flynn.

WNPA is monitoring further developments.
