Pro POY judging to be held Sat., April 9

The Pro POY contest judging will be held Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Center for Photography at Madison, 303 S. Paterson St. (Door 2), Madison, WI, beginning at 9 a.m. until finish (likely 5:30 p.m.). The judging is open to WNPA members, CPM members, and students. We are very grateful that CPM is hosting us.

This year’s judges are:

Meg Theno, senior photo editor at the Chicago Tribune. Theno went to Chicago in 2002 after several years at the Wisconsin State Journal and The Capital Times. She is a past president of WNPA.

Michael Kienitz, a photographer for almost 40 years, published in Life, Time, and Newsweek. His book Small Arms provides insight into the lives of children of war. Kienitz now also shoots and produces digital video projects.

Narayan Mahon, an editorial and commercial photographer syndicated by Redux. His clients include The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Rolling Stone.

WNPA plans to Livestream and archive the judging here on our website for those unable to physically attend.

If you are planning to attend the judging, please know the following:

•CPM is located north of Williamson Street (Willy Street) and south of East Washington Avenue in Madison. Enter Door 2, go upstairs and we’ll be in the second door on the right.
•It’s conveniently located on the Capital City Trail for those who prefer to pedal.
•We will provide refreshments and a working lunch (no extended lunch break) for our judges. Those attending to watch will need to take care of their own sustenance. Carry-ins are welcome. There’s lots of good fare in the Willy Street neighborhood.
