Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Porter win Pulitzer

Gary Porter

Gary Porter of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, along with Mark Johnson, Kathleen Gallagher, Lou Saldivar and Alison Sherwood, have won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting, it was announced today.

The story, One In A Billion, chronicled the treatment of Nicholas Volker, “a little boy with a rare, devastating disease.” Porter’s photographs also won Best of Show in WNPA’s 2010 POY Contest this year. He is also WNPA’s 2010 Photographer of the Year.
