Convention 2010: Kevin Miyazaki joins speakers list

The Wisconsin News Photographers Association is pleased to announce that Kevin J. Miyazaki joins the list of speakers for WNPA’s convention at Hotel Metro in Milwaukee, Wis., on Saturday, March 13, 2010.

Miyazaki will present his work and address the topics of business practices and transitioning from newspapers to independent work. He will also serve as one of three judges of WNPA’s Pictures of the Year contest.

An editorial and fine art photographer based in Milwaukee represented by Redux, Miyazaki’s newspaper career included internships at USA Today, The Kansas City Star, and the Star Tribune in Minneapolis.  He spent 8 years on the staff of the Cincinnati Enquirer, before leaving to become photography director at Cincinnati Magazine.  In 2000, he returned to his hometown of Milwaukee to work as the photographer at Milwaukee Magazine. For the past 5 years, he has been doing freelance editorial work, focusing on portrait and travel assignments.  His personal fine art work deals with issues of family history, memory and public/private space.
