WNPA Member Pic: Mark Hertzberg during 2008 spring flooding

The Journal Times covered severe flooding in the Racine, Wis. area in early June as the Root River, which runs through the city, exceeded flood levels by several feet over a period of a little over a week. Entire neighborhoods along the river needed to be evacuated, power and gas service was cut by utility companies for safety reasons. People are cleaning up their basements, a golf course that was once underwater by several feet is now playable again, and another city park probably is unusable for the summer. Here is a photo gallery produced by the Journal Times of images taken by Mark Hertzberg from some of the early flooding.
