Evan Siegle’s Olympic Journal

Evan Siegle of the Green Bay Press-Gazette was a member of USA Today/Gannett News Service photo team to cover the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, where he spent over 27 days in beautiful Italy shooting with some of the best shooters in the world.

USA Today’s photo coverage was split up into two teams, a downtown team and a mountain team. Evan was a member of the downtown team along with USA Today staffers Robert Hanashiro, Robert Deutsch and Eileen Blass.

He covered ice hockey, long track speed skating and curling. He also spent a day in the mountains with USA Today’s Jack Gruber covering the Snowboard Xross.

Evan said were very long days but was worth every minute, incuding covering the the medal hockey games and Joey Cheek winning the 500m gold medal race.
