GENERAL NEWS
1st PLACE – Craig Schreiner – Wisconsin State Journal
Judges Comments: Subtle moment captures on what could have been a normal portrait assignment.
2nd PLACE – Mark Hertzberg – Journal Times
Judges Comments: Nice repitition of subjects.
3rd PLACE – Steve Kinderman – Leader-Telegram
Judges Comments: Protest photo, but a truly unique one at that.
Honorable Mention- Elizabeth Flores – Journal Sentinel
Judges Comments: Again, a protest photo, but a moment any of us would be happy to bring back from such an event. Nice layers.

FEATURE

Judges Comments: Photo shows great access, photographer gaining trust of jubjects. Angle is nice too. Wonderful subtle moment that stood out.
2nd PLACE – David Joles – Journal Sentinel
Judges Comments: Good graphic elements. Tighter crop would have helped.
3rd PLACE – Mike De Sisti – Post-Crescent
Judges Comments: Good use of layering and motion blur. Background is busy . Performers are lifeless, but image still works.
HONORABLE MENTION – Terry Mayer – The Week
Judges Comments: Funny and joyous moment from a quirky event.

SPORTS

Judges Comments: Good timing. Everything in the right place.
2ND PLACE – Corey Wilson – Press Gazette
Judges Comments: Unique moment in a different sport. Timing is dead on.
3RD PLACE – Michelle Stocker – Capital Times
Judges Comments: Good peak action, faces are nice. Composition wasn’t the cleanest, but the action was good enough.

PORTRAIT PERSONALITY
1ST PLACE – Scott Anderson – Journal Times
Judges Comments: Stood out immediately from the rest. Great non-lit portrait shows a lot about the subjects.
2ND PLACE – Al Hoch – The Gazette
Judges Comments: Subject’s personality really stands out.
3RD PLACE – Kristyna Wentz-Graff – Post-Crescent
Judges Comments: Good studio photo. Has some technical issues, but still works.

FEATURE MULTIPLE
1ST PLACE – Steve Apps – Wisconsin State Journal
Judges Comments: Great personal vision. Photographer took time to shoot something other than the game.
2nd PLACE – Peter Zuzga – Community Newspapers, Inc.
Judges Comments: Needed a tighter edit, but worked well. Detail group was nice.
3rd PLACE – Kristyna Wentz-Graff – Post-Crescent
Judges Comments: Good effort. Nice character study. Nice variety of angles. Made it stand out from the others.
